The people of urdime.gal tell us about their dayly life, how they started their project and how, after a trajectory already consolidated as a cooperativa in the cultural sector, the pandemic is causing them to rethink their approaches and to reconsider the role of the digital world on their work.

In Urdime we are an associated work cooperative. We are therefore part of the social economy and we develop our work within the cultural sector, taking care of the distribution, cultural action and management of projects and events in which creativity and culture is the center and the fundamental argument of our day to day.

Urdime started in December 2012, and in these eight years of work we have been consolidating ourselves as one of the leading companies in our country, in the distribution of performing arts for all audiences. We have in our catalog more than twenty companies and music groups, at the same time that our distribution part was consolidating, the cultural action that has always been present but in which more and more projects and ideas come to fruition and ranging from the contextualization, design and production of events to the organization of exhibitions, conferences, meetings, … was taking more weight.

This year, the situation generated since March has made us look more and more at the digital world and therefore, in recent months, much of our work has revolved around adapting our activity to the new reality, working in audience management, in guaranteing the security in all our productions and in the commitment with safe culture, and with the culture as a good of basic necessity.

We will continue to opt for decent work in the cultural sector, we believe in the capacity and need for culture as a warrantor of life in society, and creativity as a fundamental tool for that future we have to build and to which we want to approach our way of understanding the labor relations and life in society.

We chose the name urdime.gal because it places us in the world from the place where we work, because we chose Galician as the language of URDIME from the first day and therefore this is our domain. The use of the .gal domain facilitates our location, the visibility of the strategic commitment to our culture as a backbone of our business action and allows us to network with all the people, entities and companies with whom we share culture and horizon.
